I am11 and my one big dream is to be a fursuit in the Furry Fandom. I live in Edgewater, Florida. And I just got $142 cash for Christmas. I was wondering since im only 11, I read all ages are allowed but I must be 18 to have my own hotel room, is it possible my mother could come with me? and she could rent the hotel room? I already talked to her that this con must be mature because this is like PG-13. I am getting my head next month, I have handpaws, sleeves, badge(s), tail and im also buying feetpaws. it would be a partial suit. help please?

Hello Naturewolf.

Thank you for wanting to spend a weekend at Megaplex. At age 11, you will need a parent or guardian to be with you to register and attend the convention. Now, in terms of content, you can tell your Mom that we have other parents who bring their children (some younger than you..and who fursuit!) to Megaplex. We try to have entertainment and events that appeal to ALL ages.

There are some stand up comedy acts or other events, where the content may have some language that is not fully appropriate for some of our younger attendees. These events are clearly marked and described in our programming guide descriptions. So they are easy for you and your Mom to identify. Last year's event had MANY fun activities such as 1950's sock hop dances, art classes, puppet shows, a dance competetion for fursuiters, and all sorts of things that I'm sure you and your family would find fun and entertaining.

If your mother would like to speak with representatives of the convention to answer any questions, please feel free to have her reach out to us via the web site or by email.

I hope that this helps. Please let us know if there is additional information we can provide.

Just a quick question. Will there be bowling this year on Thursday again?

Hi Sterling - yes there will! It will be exclusive to attendees just like last year.
Keep an eye on our events page for info about the bowling event and other events as we approach the con.

ahh awesome thanks for letting me know! i cant wait!

Hey everyone can't wait for megaplex, it's gonna be a blast and my first

Only 105 days, 11 hours, and 59 minutes left!!!

2 questions:
1. Would a passport count as valid photo ID?
2. I'm 14 years old. If I have valid photo ID, am I allowed to be at the convention on my own?

Hello Gemini,

You would need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Yes, any form of government issued ID that verifies age and identity is valid, including a passport, state ID or driver's license.

You can learn more about our registration policies in our F.A.Q. page: https://megaplexcon.org/faq

If I go with a friend that is 16 and I'm 14 would that work? Would I not have to have a parent come with me because my mother thinks furies are weird so she would never agree to go. She would drive us and get the hotel but she wouldn't be going to the con.

Hi Becca,

One of your parents would need to come into the hotel with you when you register for the event. Once you're registered and have your con badge, your mom can leave if she wants. Although hopefully she'll see how fun it is and change her mind! :)

Since your friend is under 18, he or she would need to bring a parent along for the same reason, unless they have a valid ID that shows photo + birthdate (such as a state ID, driver's license or passport).

More information can be found in our Attendee Policies: https://megaplexcon.org/policies#minors
Thanks!

Thank you for clearing that up, but one more question. If my mom were to come and get the hotel room and register me in would I have to bring a ID as well so that I could be at the con by myself or do I not need an ID as long as my mom is with me during registering because I'm 14. Another thing, my friend would be coming and she would also be 14 if her mom couldn't make it and my mom was there when she registered would that be okay or would she need her mom to register her.

From what i remember last year it would have to be a legal parent or guardian of your friend for her to get admission

You would not have to bring your own ID, but we will need to take down your mom's information.

Your friend would need her mom to register her as well.

One of my friends who was going to go with me backed out and now I'm coming to the convention for the first time all alone. My mom is a bit worried that she'll have to stay with me the whole time. What can I do to tell her I'll be ok? (I'll be 17 by the way so she's worried about that too.)

I just linked my mother the Policies page she still wants to be there but not following me around the con!

Our policies require anyone under 13 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If you're 13 or older you don't have to worry about that, but as you probably saw in our policies, if you're under 18 you may need to have a parent or legal guardian at registration when you pick up your badge. You can also check our FAQ to see what you'll need. https://megaplexcon.org/faq

Thank you for choosing to attend Megaplex this year. We are very happy that you will be spending time at the convention. While attending a convention by yourself may seem a little daunting, let me offer some information that can set your mind, and your mother's mind, at ease.

If you are 16 or older and you bring a valid government-issued photo ID, you may attend any general audience Megaplex events and won't need your parent or guardian with you. But if your mother wishes to stop by Megaplex to take a look around and meet some of the senior staff, we would be more than happy to speak with her at the convention and answer any questions that we can. We have many attendees whose parents have come to the convention and in many cases, are also now members as well! Megaplex can just be that much fun.

We have a security staff that is on duty throughout the convention. All staff and security members will be wearing an identifying article (special shirt, costume component, etc.) to make us highly visible. If there is any kind of concern or question, you can always reach out to a staffer for assistance.

The convention will have many events that you can attend and participate in. These include stage shows, workshops, game tournaments, dances, and even a dessert social that is part of your membership! These events are often a great opportunity to make new friends. For the few events (if any) that may contain mature language or subject matter, your membership badge will identify you as under 18. The security team will not permit access to those events only if your badge has the under 18 identifier. This information may help to reassure your parents that we do want you to have a safe convention experience.

This year, Megaplex will have some wonderful returning guests and two amazing guests of honor. These artists and musicians will be providing a wonderful weekend of activities. And we will also have the animals of C.A.R.E. returning for an informational workshop and photo opportunity on Sunday. In the past, there have been photo opportunities with raccoons, birds, alligators, possums, and other live animals that our attendees have really enjoyed.

Megaplex tries very hard to create an atmosphere that is fun and entertaining to guests of all ages. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us, and we can answer any questions that we can. You may also like to show our website to your mom - we have Frequently Asked Questions and Attendee Policies pages that may also help.

Thanks!

I have to pay for the full weekend at the door, becasue I only have cash. (which is $50 right?) But I want a con badge, how can I get one still?

Hi Arno. I'm copying Yappy's response below (I think he meant to answer you directly).

You will still get a badge at the door, the same as the pre-registration. The only difference with the pre-registered badges, is you would be able to put your own avatar on the con badge, instead of the stock character that we use for on-site registration. We are sorry to say, we can not from a time perspective, deal with personal avatars on site for walk in registration, as that would simply slow the registration lines down way too slow.

You could if you wanted, opt to purchase one of those pre-paid credit cards like you get at a drug store, and load the money up on that. The transaction fee might actually be about the same as the $5 increase in price at the door, and you could get your own avatar.

Thank you, though it's not really worth the trouble ^-^ might end up not even going T.T but thanks again. :D
